Our nine-year-old son had a speech problem that I hadn't addressed yet, as we'd been focusing on other issues. IWhen we heard about Annette's success with one of our son's good friends, I decided it was time to contact her. I worried it might be too late. But Annette was terrific: she did a thorough assessment of our son's speech and wrote out what she recommended. She provided all the necessary paperwork for our insurance company, which was extremely helpful.

When she started speech therapy with him, our son still had other therapies going on at the same time and would have burned out with anyone else. She had such a fresh, energized approach, always adjusting to what he could reach that session. And she was wholly flexible about our schedule and understood the intricacies of it all. She did some joint sessions with his friend which made it extra fun for them.  Within just a few months, our son lost his speech problem. Yay!!

Later in the year, the same son was having some trouble at school, related in large part to vision processing issues. He had vision therapy and occupational therapy, but he need one more piece of the puzzle for success at school that I just couldn't manage myself.  This is where Annette's truly unique approach filled in the missing piece. She approaches each child individually, knowing that everyone has his or her ways of learning. She worked with our son on how to approach his homework and school problems in ways that would work for him.

Every time I've had any sort of issue with either of my kids, I've reached out to Annette. When our sons were very argumentative with each other, I asked her for ideas, and she gave them some sibling sessions that really changed how they approached each other.

She can really do anything! I highly recommend her for any challenge your child may be facing. She will lead them to success!

Annette is responsible for providing speech services to our fifth and sixth grade special education students whom she works with in a small group, however, she quickly observed that we have two upper grade classes that needed support in treating each other respectfully. She implemented the Superflex Social Thinking curriculum and focused on teaching our students how their actions affected others and how they could fight against unexpected actions. Students respond well to her lessons and over the course of the year they began to use a common language regarding social interactions. I am able to use the same terms when I deal with student discipline and it is clear that the students who had been exposed to the curriculum have a good understanding of how their actions affect others. In my opinion, exposing my entire staff to Superflex would
be helpful as it would provide a common language to use when speaking with students.

I also had the opportunity to observe Annette interacting with parents at IEP meetings.  She always displays a comprehensive understanding of students and has a knack for being clear and direct as she communicates strengths and areas of need. Parents react well to her and understand that she is an advocate for their children.

Finally, Annette's rapport with the neediest students is incredible. She displays compassion and understanding but always holds them accountable for their actions. Annette is a perfect combination of compassion, skill and directness, and she will be an asset to your organization.

Annette Waters started working with our daughter a few years ago to help our daughter with her social skills.  Ms. Waters first worked with our daughter in a school environment, and then later as an independent therapist.

Our daughter's social skills have improved under Ms. Waters' care.  Ms. Waters speaks with us before and after our daughter's sessions and she is quick to identify areas to work on.  She also gives us activities that we can do at home to help our daughter improve her social skills.

Ms. Waters works with our daughter both in a clinical setting and in the community, or "real world" setting.  The latter is especially useful for our daughter to work on real-life social skills.
